 world\, the role of local and regional governments is evolving\, driven by
  complex challenges such as climate change\, public health crises\, and th
 e erosion of public trust in institutions. Now\, more than ever\, local an
 d regional governments must take a decisive step forward to enhance their 
 capacity\, assert their role in the multilevel governance framework and ac
 tively shape the future of their communities.The Summit of the Future saw 
 our constituency call on a new era of diplomacy that fosters peace\, coope
 ration\, and solidarity between communities\, reinforcing city and territo
 rial diplomacy\, democratic participation\, human rights\, and renewed dem
 ocracies.This panel debate will explore how local and regional governments
  can lead in this transformation\, drawing on insights from elected offici
 als across different regions and a leading public administration scholar. 
 The discussion will focus on the common trends\, challenges\, and opportun
 ities in renewing local democracy and enhancing the effectiveness of local
